South Salt Lake Poetry Lab is a welcoming and exploratory workshop designed for everyone, but is especially perfect for beginners, perfectionists, and "I'm not a poet" poets!

Poetry is a great experiment, and this course invites you to step out of your comfort zone and play without the pressure of being "good."

How It Works:

Daily Practice: Each day of the course, you will receive a new writing prompt via text or email, inviting you to write one poem.

Weekly Lab: Once a week, we meet in-person to engage in and discuss the poems we've written. This is a supportive community where we cheer each other on and explore the techniques and surprises that arise from consistent, low-stakes creation.

The goal is to journey out of the boxes we build for ourselves, try to make something new each day, and explore without worrying if the work is good or bad.

Key Objectives & Takeaways:

Objective: Allow ourselves to explore and play without judgment.

Objective: Embrace the freedom of allowing ourselves to be "bad" at what we love.

Takeaway: A collection of poems unique to each poet.

Takeaway: Greater confidence in writing skills and a strong sense of community.
